Call for Manuscripts

For our new book series “Mono” we are looking for prospective authors with exciting manuscripts of medium length (approx. 25,000 words). In spring 2021, we’ll have the resources to support a fully financed release (incl. editing, graphics, open access).

Mono is the name of our new paperback format, situated between (extended) essay and monograph. It is intended as a platform for authors who deal with questions of science and technology, the environment, labour and political economy – their social implications, their historical conditions, their present consequences. We are interested in (especially but not exclusively) research from the history of science/technology, science and technology studies (STS), media studies, global history, environmental and medical humanities, intellectual history and cultural history. The first book in the series, Robert Leucht’s Der Ingenieur. Grammatik eines Hoffnungsträgers, will be published in autumn 2021.

The books in the Mono series are set to appear both in print and digital (open access). Thanks to a generative layout process, they are inexpensive to produce, yet printed in high quality and professionally designed. The focus is on the text; and there’s provision for pictures, maps, illustrations, etc. The concept for the series was developed in cooperation with gta Verlag Zurich, the designers Nadine Wüthrich / Reinhard Schmidt, and the developer Urs Hofer.

Requirements:
– Text should be unpublished; the manuscript should at least be available as a draft version.
– Text length: approx. 20,000 – 35,000 words.
– Language should be German, English or French.

Submissions (until the end of June 2021) should include an exposé (max. 1 page), a chapter outline as well as sample text: redaktion@intercomverlag.ch
